Asian Cup windfall helps Football Federation break even

The Financial Review reports that Football Federation Australia was able to break even only with the help of a $4 million windfall from hosting the Asian Cup, the organisation’s latest financial accounts reveal.

The accounts, recently lodged with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, show FFA’s operating revenue reached $103.1 million in the year to June 30, down from $116.4 million in 2014 – a year that included revenue from Australia’s participation in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

From that $103.1 million FFA made a surplus of $259,000, but the accounts notes revealed the organisation receives $4 million from the hosting of the Asian Cup. Without that figure, the FFA would have slid to a financial loss of about $3.7 million.
