Cricket Australia announces 5.5m loss for 2021-2022

Cricket Australia have reported a deficit of 5.5m for 2021-2022, and a comprehensive loss of 10.655m on revenue of $391.004m. Notably there was a $51m drop in the media, broadcasting and marketing sector, while match income rose 25m. Sponsorship was up slightly to 69m.

The BBL averaged 500,000 viewers per fixture, streaming not included. 44 of 56 sessions in the last Ashes series reached a million viewers. WBBL|07 was the most watched ever with a cumulative audience of 5.36m – up 15% on WBBL|06. Cricket Aus says the BBL remains the most watched domestic sport on linear tv at 506,000 per game – ahead of the AFL (415,000) and NRL (406,000)

412,000 people attended the 2021-22 BBL season.

Total Cricket participation for 2021-2022 reached 598,931 Womens registered participation lifted 27%, while overall club registrations rose 5% on 2020-21 and 2% on the pre pandemic data. The number of girls registered for club cricket rose from 10,700 pre covid to 13,200.
