NRL reopens talks with clubs over stadiums strategy

The Australian reports that the NRL has reopened talks with its clubs over the game’s stadiums strategy after being urged by the NSW Premier to provide a united front on how the state government should spend the $1.6 billion it has earmarked for Sydney venues.

Under Dave Smith’s watch, the NRL had been pushing for a new stadium at Moore Park, a move that led to ructions within the code. Powerbrokers from Canterbury and South Sydney sought their own discussions with the NSW government to ensure ANZ Stadium wasn’t underfunded.
