Geelong Football Club plans for life without pokies

The Geelong Football Club is looking to get rid of its poker machine licences, the club’s chief executive says.

The club earned $3 million from the 100 machines at their home ground at Kardinia Park last year, but in a long term plan the the machines would be gone altogether, for ethical reasons.

“Gaming is basically insurance for a club,” Mr Cook said.

“We are trying to become less reliant on gaming and our vision is not to rely on gaming to add to our profit in the longer term.”
