Clubs battle NSW Government and NRL for money for ANZ Stadium upgrade

News Limited Reports that while NRL management supports a proposed funding model from Sports Minister Stuart Ayres — the clubs apparently dont.

They want money set aside for a full revamp of ANZ Stadium and will meet today to increase their fight against the Government stadia funding model.

It is understood $1.2 billion of the allocated $1.6 billion stadia funding would be directed to a new 55,000-seat stadium at Moore Park, where Allianz Stadium is located, along with a new 30,000-seat Parramatta Stadium, worth $300 million.

Fairfax Media reports that the NRL is using previous financial assistance to Cronulla and Manly as leverage to get the clubs to oppose rival Sydney franchises and back plans for a new stadium at Moore Park.

Fairfax also reports that the FFA supports the clubs position.
