Despite some consternation on Twitter over a send off, State of Origin 1 at Accor Stadium in Sydney rated an average of 3.436 million on the Nine Network, including a record 760,000 for a rugby league match on BVOD. The broadcast reached 5.306 million viewers and is the highest rating Origin or Origin 1 since Origin 1, 2016.
The Metro viewing audience was 2.256 million and was the number 1 program in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane on the night. (including BVOD)
